In elementary schools in Senegal, student grades are called differently from ones in Japan.
Students go to school for six years at least.
There is a final test at the end of each year, and if students do not reach the standard score, they will repeat the same grade again.
"In Japan, everyone goes up to the next grade," I said to a teacher in the school.
"Is it really like that?" He was surprised.
Some of the children even transferred to another school with the reason that they stayed in the same grade.
The names of the grades in Senegal are as follows.
1st grade CI
2nd grade CP
3rd grade CE1
4th grade CE2
5th grade CM1
6th grade CM2
An elementary school I'm working has two classes per grade.
We call classes like "class A, class B."
For example, if you express a class A of grade 6, you can call "CM2A".
I am gradually getting used to call those class names.
Sheep.
They live freely in groups on the paths we normally use.
There is no fluffy sheep like illustration.

セネガルの小学校では学年の呼び方が日本と違います。
小学校は、最短で6年通います。
毎年の最後にテストあって、もし基準の点数に届かないと留年することになります。
「日本は全員が次の学年に進級しますよ。」とセネガルの小学校の先生に話すと
「そうなのか！？」と驚いていました。
中には留年をきっかけに転校する子もいました。
セネガルの学年の名前はこのようになっています。
1年生 CI（セーイー）
2年生 CP（セーペー）
3年生 CE1（セーウーアン）
4年生 CE2（セーウードゥ）
5年生 CM1（セーエムアン）
6年生 CM2（セーエムドゥ）
私が通っている小学校は学年ごとに2クラスずつあります。
それぞれを「Aクラス、Bクラス」という呼び方をします。
例えば、6年1組だったら、CM2aクラス。
読み方はフランス語読みで、「C（セー）M（エム）2（ドゥ）a（アー）」です。
そんな呼び方にもだんだん慣れてきました。

私たちが普段歩く道で、集団で自由に生活しています。
絵に書くようなモフモフの羊はいません。
手前の小さい羊は、今まで見た中でもかなり小さめでした。
産まれたばかりなのでしょう。
