1 From Africa to Japan, to the world

I'm Yuta Watanabe, a Japanese guy.

My name 'Yuta' pronounces like 'Utah' state in the US.

Call me Yuta!

This Blog was written by myself from 2018 to 2020.

I've thought that I'd like more people to read this blog.

I originally wrote the blog only in Japanese, but I translate into English so that English speakers can read it.

Let's get started!

I'm Yuta Watanabe.

I'm in Senegal in Africa now.

I'm going to write what I think when I see Senegalese things in the blog "Jibun DoU."

I named the blog's name "Jibun DoU."

The concept of the title means 'Do things as you are'.

I quit my previous job, elementaly teacher, in March of 2018.

And I started new career as a volunteer of JOCV(Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers) in April of 2018.

My specific field is "Elementary school education."

I joined a training program for two and a half month in Komagane city, Nagano area in Japan from April to June in 2018.

I was learning basic French as a beginner.

And I left Japan on the 2nd of July in 2018.

Finally, I arrived at Senegal in Africa.

One week has already passed.

Am I working as a volunteer in an elementary school?

The answer is NOT YET.

Then, what do I do now?

Here is in Dakar city, which is the capital of Senegal.

I'm staying in a domitory. There is a big house for Japanese volunteers. We all peer volunteers(12 people) live together in the house.

We are preparing some necessary procedures for starting new life in Senegal.

We are going to stay with a local familly in their house for three weeks from tomorrow. (13th of July in 2018)

The homestay's object is for not only learning the local language but also learning Senegalese culture.

We are going to learn the local language "Wolof" in a language school via French for three weeks!

During this three weeks of the homestay, we are going to stay in Thies city, which is located next to Dakar city.

I've heard there would not be Wi-Fi in the house and school.

I'm not sure when the network conects, but I'd like to immerse myself in Senegalese culture day by day.
