Today was a Muslim festivalis in Senegal, which is called "Tabaski".
Its festival is the same meaning as "Sacrifice Festival."
In Senegal, it is a national holiday.
I heard that there is a story about the origin of the name "Sacrifice Festival".
To put it simply, it is a festival to offer "sheep" to God.
I had no schedule today because I had no friends yet.
Sheep festival.
I was thinking, "When I was walking around town on the festival day, I would encounter someone who show me what the festival "Tabaski" is."
Anyway, I decided to leave the house and walk around town.
Once I left the house, I happened to meet a neighbor woman that I had met only once before.
The woman said, "It's Tabaski today. Where are you going?"
I said, "I want to see how Tabaski is."
She said, "Then, come to my house."
Thirty seconds after I left the house, today's schedule was set.
I was amazed at how quickly she accepted me. Because she didn't know about me well.
When I went into the premises, I found a male sheep.
To offer a sheep to God is to take its life.
I had seen a pig being slaughtered before, it was right in front of me. So I was a little used to seeing it.
The meats were cut with a knife, the bones were cut with a machete, which has a broad blade. In no time, the meat was ready for cooking.
Women began cooking soon after.
While they were cooking, I waited with a 4year-old girl and an about 1-year old boy, they taught me "Wolof" local language.
As a snack, first I was given fried mutton liver.
Then, I got the mutton stew with onions and potatoes. I ate it with bread.
For the first time, I was full with only mutton meat in my life.
And the woman was very kind to me. ”I will stop by again!” I said to the family.
This was the first time I experienced Tabaski with a warm family.
