Recently, there was a day when lightning flashed continuously.
But I didn't hear any sound at all, so I couldn't find where the lightning had struck.
The next day, the entire road was flooded. The water was overflowing due to heavy rain and the poor drainage of the roads.
This is the "Rainy season" in Senegal.
It has been two months since the rainy season started, but I haven't had any heavy rain during the daytime. The daytime are always sunny so far.
As water evaporates from the ground, the smell of garbage wafts storonger than usual in the air. The smell is like a mixture of the smell of garbage and animal excrement, so it is strong smell.
There is one of customs to throw garbage on the ground in Senegal.
When I was carrying my garbage, I was told, "You can throw it anywhere."
I don't want to throw it away because I don't feel comfortable doing so.
But Senegalese people, without exception, throw garbage on the ground, so the amount of garbage is increasing around there.
When I see the large amout of garbage on the ground, I'm not sure if this is a problem or not.
There is a garbage collection point with 5 minutes-walk distance from my house.
It is just a place where garbage is collected. It means just collecting. Nothing is done with it afterwards.
Infinite garbage.
I wonder what will happen to the garbage in the future.
最近、雷がピカッピカッと連続して光った日がありました。
それなのに、音は全然聞こえてきませんでした。
どこに雷が落ちていたのかは分かりませんでした。
翌日、道路一面が水没していました。
降った雨の量が凄いのと道の水はけが悪いのが重なって、水があふれています。
今の時期セネガルは「雨季」です。
雨季に入って2ヶ月が経つのに、いまだ昼間に大雨に打たれたことはありません。
日中は晴れが続いています。
水が地面から蒸発する時、ゴミのにおいがいつもより漂ってきます。
生ゴミや動物のフンなどのにおいが混ざって、鼻につきます。
セネガルでは、ゴミを地面に捨てる習慣があります。
私がゴミを持っていたら「その辺に捨てていいんだよ。」と言われました。
私は、抵抗があるのでそこら辺に捨てないですが、
セネガルの人は例外なしで当たり前に捨てるので、ゴミは増える一方です。
当たり前に捨てられているゴミを見ると、
このことが問題なのかどうか分からなくなってきます。
家から5分ほど歩くとゴミ収集場があります。
ただ集めた、というだけの場所です。その後の処理は何もされないのです。
無限ゴミ。
この先このゴミはどうなるんだろう。
