I happened to see a man who said, "I can teach you Wolof!" on the street, so I went to the house where he taught me.
Later, I went to his house where he taught me.
The person had gone to a countryside far away, and I could not see him then.
Now that students are on summer vacation, so many people are returning to their hometowns or staying at relative house in the countryside.
Instead, I asked the children who were around the house to teach me the local language "Wolof".
Teaching and being taught language is difficult, even for adults.
The children taught me random words from what they saw around them. First, some of them were good at teaching the language seeing my reactions, but kids gathered around me one after another. They came from where I didn't know. And everyone taught me words at the same time, eventually it became chaos.
The children were very curious to me, because I am a Japanese. They touched my hair, skin which were diffrent with them.
I wrote down 12 names in my notebook to try to remember their names, but I couldn't memorize them all at once!
The kids waved and said to me, "See you later!" until I turned the corner.
I'm thinking I go to the same place again, or I explore new places.
I'm sure that children gather around me anywhere.
たまたま道で「ウォロフ語を教えてあげるよ！」という人がいました。
後日、その人に教えてもらった家の辺りまで行ってみました。
訪れたとき、言葉を教えてくれると言ってくれた人は遠くへ出かけてしまっていて会えませんでした。 今は学校が夏休みなので、帰省などで地方へ行っていることが多いのです。
代わりに、その家の周りにいた子供たちに言葉を教えてもらいました。
言葉を教えること、教わることは、対大人でも難しいことです。
子供たちは、周りにある目についたものから、ランダムに言葉を私に教えてくれました。 中には私の反応を見ながらテンポを合わせてくれる上手な子がいたのですが、なんせどこから来るのか次々と子供が私の周りに集まってきたのです。みんなが、そこら中の物の名前を同時に言うみたいな状態で、最終的にカオスになりました。
子供たちは、日本人である私の髪の毛や肌などを触ってきて興味津々でした。
途中で子供たちの名前を覚えようとノートに書いてみた名前が12人分。
これは多すぎて一回じゃ覚えられない！
「またねー！」と 角を曲がって見えなくなるところまで、子供たちは手を振っていました。
また同じ所へ行こうか、それとも、新しい所を開拓するか。
きっと、どこに行っても子供たちは集まってくるはず。
