I came to Dakar, which is the capital city.
It is only urban areas where are lively relating to Christmas.
Big supermarkets and restaurants are decorated with lights and trees.
I saw a Santa Claus alone in a shopping mall, so I approached him.
"Would you like to take a photo with me?" He said.
He was a friendly Santa.
I'm feeling that the level of development is too different between the urban area and rural areas.
There are more people in the capital and I feel even futher distance with people more than in rural areas.
But even when I meet someone for the first time, they say, "Come here. Let's have lunch together!" It is a common scenery even in the capital as well.
Today I was invited, so I ate the meal by hand.
I've already got used to eating with my hand.
I often feel in Senegal that it is fun to have a conversation with people I meet for the first time.
I remembered that in Japan, it was quite rare to have conversations with strangers.
首都ダカールに来ています。
クリスマスでにぎわっているのは都市部だけですが、
大きなスーパーや飲食店では、イルミネーションやツリーなどの飾り付けがされています。
ショッピングモールにいたサンタが1人でいたので声をかけました。
「一緒に写真なんかどう？」と言われました。気さくなサンタでした。
都市部と地方では、発展レベルが違いすぎることを感じます。
人が多く、地方よりも人と人の距離感は遠く感じます。
だけど、初対面でも「こっち来て。ご飯一緒に食べようよ！」
と誘ってくれるのは、首都でもある光景です。
今日は路上で食事に呼ばれたので、一緒に手づかみで食事をしました。
手づかみの食事にもすっかり慣れました。
初対面の人と会話をすることが楽しいことだとセネガルにいるとよく感じます。
日本では、知らない人と会話をすることってかなり少なかったよなぁと思い出していました。
